Wow, Duskie360. I thought you exceeded my expectations with "Mane 6 Ice Cream", but THIS is the piece that surpasses them! Now I've noticed that you've been drawing many Luna pieces lately as a way to experiment with lighting effects, and I must say the tests are paying off, especially here! I adore how much glow Luna's body emits, and how it creates some beautiful scenery. It was a very smart decision to make the background black, because then you can see how much light the objects are giving off.

There's something about her standing in the water that's exclusively charming. I can imagine Luna walking through the forest, when suddenly, she steps into a lake or river. But she doesn't care. She just keeps trudging through the liquid, through the woods, approaching her enemy with determination. She pulls out her lightsaber with her magic, and she turns it on, ready to combat the foe. I think the dark forest environment perfectly reflects how fierce Luna is feeling. You feel the intensity; you feel the anticipation; you feel like you're walking with Luna through that body of water, and your just as driven to defeat this unknown adversary as she is.

The only suggestion I make is that if Luna is going to be equipped with a lightsaber, you should probably try to make it feel even more like a Star Wars piece. Perhaps you could give Luna something like a black cloak or a robe of some sort. Look at some of NCMares's drawings, such as "Jedi Applejack" or "Sith Cadance Redux". The characters are dressed like the ones from the movies. He tries to make it look more like the Star Wars universe, and I feel like it could've been done a little bit more here. But in the end, that's just me.

Clearly, the intention here was to exercise lighting effects, and it was done unbelievably well here. Everything looks so majestic and magical. The mane and tail look enchanting, the thick smoke effects are hauntingly beautiful, the light saber resembles the ones from the movie very nicely, and Luna's character is designed gorgeously. I have to say that this probably my favorite deviation from you so far, Duskie360. I except more great works from you, especially since you plan on making something based on every episode this season! I can't wait to see what you submit next!
