Description

Finally! Wow this took me a long time to complete after a total of 3 weeks and 3 days (24 days). I painted this after practicing several smaller pieces, just to make sure I am able to paint well and not get stuck. Feel free to download this for your desktop background or something like that! :D

Anyway, presenting:

ARMY OF TWO

Rainbow Dash and Twilight putting on a pose right in front of the camera with three different types of sharp weapons, namely the sword, blade and the dagger!

Pss... try to spot AJ in the background, she's pretty small to be seen! She's so surprised to see them making the pose from afar! :D

Anyway, I hope you like this! :D

Wow this is absolutely spectacular. When you said you planned to create a background for Rainbow Dash's solo, I did not expect such an addition! It was also a pleasure to be able to attend a few of your streams and observe your techniques, even though I'm inexperienced with CS6. I start by pointing out some elements I enjoy in this piece.

The atrocious attention to detail! I can't imagine how long it took to draw those wings. Though the characters may be wielding weapons, the soft back light from the sun on the wings gives it a sense of serenity. I also like the nice touches with the sun beams streaking across the sky and the nifty little lens flare. The poses also add dynamics to the scene, which is great in this case. But there is just a couple things that strike me as odd.

I'd recommend maybe practicing more than just ponies. For example in your drawing here, the landscape could be looking more natural. But it shouldn't be a big deal if you're not planning to delve into land forms. I would also consider trying out different colours for different settings. I want to point out that Twilight's coat is too saturated, but that's not what I'm going for. The setting of this environment would have an altered lighting coming upon the 2 characters consisting of a yellow tinted highlight. So in this case, a light purple would not the best fit, but perhaps an orange/tan brown would do well. I just want to say that once again, you don't need to apply these if you're not planning on having different settings/backgrounds. It all depends how in-depth you want to go with it, which is ultimately your call.

Overall, this is very stunning! It's great to see such an effort put in, even if this is your first time doing backgrounds! I'd love to hear where you plan to take this, where you want to dive deeper into, and overall, what your goals are for your art. It'd help me give you more insight on where you're heading! As always, phenomenal work, Duskie! Rock on, bud <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";P" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="454" title="Wink/Razz"/>
